How do we schedule a portrait session?
Feel free to give us a call at 225-931-4620 or go to our “contact us” link on the website and give us your phone number or information on how we can contact you. We usually return your call the same business day. We require a signed model release and your session fee will need to be paid in advance to hold your scheduled date.
How far in advance do we need to book our portrait session?
We have clients calling every day to schedule sessions. If you know when you would like to book your session, we would recommend you call at least 3 months in advance to ensure we will have your date available.
What time of day to you photograph your sessions?
We call the hour before sunset the “golden hour” because this light produces the most beautiful portraits. If at all possible, we prefer to take your portraits during this time to ensure no hard shadows or squinting. Of course, schedules do not always permit this and we have strategies to make your portraits beautiful at any time of the day.
Where do you photograph your sessions?
We primarily photography at the grounds of the state capital, Rosedown Plantation and Grace Episcopal Church in St. Francisville and downtown Baton Rouge. It really depends on the type of look you want for your portrait. We can travel to destinations outside the immediate Baton Rouge area for a small travel fee or if your preferred location is within a 30 mile radius of Baton Rouge, no travel fee is required.
Do you offer gift certificates?
We offer gift certificates for any occasion. Simply call us at 225-931-4620 and we can take care of everything on the phone.
Do you have a minimum print order?
Our minimum print order is $300 for our regular portrait session.
How will we view our proofs and order our portraits?
After your portraits are taken, we will schedule an ordering session at our studio in Baton Rouge. This appointment will last about one hour, and friends and family who may want to place an order are encouraged to attend. If you have anyone that cannot make the ordering appointment, we will place the portraits online for 7 days in a password protected gallery for them to order. A minimum print order must be completed before an online gallery will be created for your family. If additional time is required, the gallery can be extended for an additional 7 days for $25.
Do you offer digitals files?
You will be given a low resolution digital file of each picture you order. Full resolution files can be purchased separately.
Do you offer retouching?
Basic retouching is included on all print orders. This includes removal of stray hairs, simple removal of distracting background elements and minor skin retouching. Any advanced retouching will require an additional fee.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Delivery of your portrait order usually takes about 4 weeks and depends on the season and the product you order. Books and special order items may take longer due to the design and binding process.
How long do you keep images on file?
Images you purchase at your ordering appointment will be kept on file for 1 year following the first ordering session. Unordered images may be purged after 60 days.
What type of clothing should we wear?
This is really a subjective decision, however we find that solid colors work very well for most individuals. White clothing, although easy to find, does not add anything to the portrait and we would suggest adding some color that is complimentary to the season and the setting. Earth tone colors look good year round but really make a statement in the fall. Pastels tend to look better in the spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom. Take a look at some of the examples on our website for ideas on clothing. We will make a point to discuss your clothing choices with you during the initial phone consultation and appointment scheduling.
